Dr. Burdick is the Associate Dean for TeleHealth and Clinical Outreach and Professor of Dermatology at the University of Miami (UM) Miller School of Medicine. She received her B.A. from Oberlin College in Ohio, her M.D. from New York University School of Medicine and her Masters of Public Health from Columbia University School of Public Health. Prior to joining the UM faculty in 1992, she was Chief of Dermatology at Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in Martinez, California.
Dr. Burdick has 16 years of experience with telemedicine and has played a critical role in bridging the ATA and the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) since she was chair of the AAD Telemedicine Task Force and chair of the ATA SIG in Teledermatology for several years.
Dr. Burdick’s vision is that telehealth will help correct the maldistribution of medical expertise and the inefficiencies of today’s health system, ensuring that quality care is provided where and when needed.

- October 12th, 2011 – NICU Retinopathy
Beckett S. Perkins is a neonatal nurse practitioner with Benefis Medical Group, Neonatology in Great Falls MT. She began her career at Benefis Health System in 1997 and has been involved with neonatal nursing as a registered Nurse, transport nurse and as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner since 2003. She also works with Seattle Children’s Regional Nurse Practitioner Group in Seattle WA. Beckett’s neonatal nursing career began at Primary Children’s Medical Center in Salt Lake City and continued in Montana at Benefis Health System first as a RN and transport nurse before becoming Montana’s first Neonatal Nurse Practitioner. She currently works as Lead NNP and Chief neonatal transport nurse. Beckett Perkins earned her bachelor of nursing degree from Westminster College in Salt Lake City, UT and subsequently graduated from the University of Washington’s Neonatal Nurse Practitioner Program in Seattle, WA. Through support and dedication to ongoing Quality Improvement by Benefis’ Administration has been part of many teams improving care in the NICU. She has been involved with quality improvement projects to decrease nosocomial infection in neonatal patients, improve long term outcomes by supporting neurosensory development by modifying the NICU environment and improving nursing and medical management and transitions striving to improve the admission process at Benefis Health System.

- August 31st, 2011 – Social Media in Telehealth
Christina Thielst is a hospital administrator and consultant who has experienced the evolution of healthcare over the last 30 years. Her firsthand experience with the challenges and barriers to effective communications and collaboration have shaped her vision for social media technologies, described in her book Social Media in Healthcare: Connect, Communicate, Collaborate.
She currently monitors hospital use of social media for outreach, education and reputation management and advises healthcare professionals with the development of their social networking activities. A blogger since 2005 (http://thielst.typepad.com), she not only has a web presence, but also web visibility.
Christina received a Bachelors degree in Social Science/Management from Louisiana State University and a Masters of Health Administration from Tulane University, School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine. She is a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives and a member of Health Care Executives of Southern California, Health Information Management Systems Society (HIMSS) and the American Telemedicine Association. - April 7th, 2011 – HealthShare Montana State HIE Update
Loren Schrag graduated from Montana State University-Billings with a Bachelors degree in Business Administration with a Management of Information Systems specialty. After college, Loren worked as a programmer and database administrator in the financial services company, D.A. Davidson. While there, Loren created automation programs capable of accessing multiple databases for advanced reporting and analytics. In 2005, Loren entered the healthcare field as the IT Manager for Rocky Mountain Health Network and continued to work with a variety of databases and automation programming. In 2010, Loren was named the Executive Director of HealthShare Montana and has been working for the last year to create Montana’s first statewide health information exchange. - Feb. 17th, 2011 – Tele-Ophthalmology
Libbey Chuy, MPH, is the Telehealth Coordinator for the Association for Utah Community Health (AUCH). She has assisted FQHC's and other healthcare organizatons serving medically underserved populations, to expand primary health services using innovative technology.
